What can we do to make America safer?

What are some attainable steps we can take as citizens to make America safer? I'm not asking for your political point of view, but for serious things people can do or get involved in.

You can be patient when waiting in long lines at airports and try to accept that to become safer we have to give up some of our personal and civil liberties.
Report suspicious activities that you might see.
Offer to do volunteer work along those lines, like a minuteman on the Texas border or whatever you think would be of help.

1. Get back to the basics. Don't expect the government to rescue you when their is a problem. Communities should take care of commnities, Neighbors take care of neighbors. Protection starts in ouselves, our families, our homes, then goes to our neighbors and then outward to our society.
2. An armed society is polite society. Look at the crime rates for concealed weapons permits areas and you will see that we have a lower crime rate were people have the means to protect themselves.
3. Teach our kids. Learn how do not be a bipedal cheeseburger for predators of this world.
4. Close the influx of illegal immigrants into the US by fining the crap out of buisiness who hire illegals to work for them.
5. Become a fuel independent nation.

1983: Capitol Building Bombing
1993: World Trade Center Bombing
1995: Oklahoma City
1997: Atlanta bombings during the Olympics
2000: U.S.S. Cole bombed

This crap was going on long before Bush and will continue long after he has left office.

We need to encourage our children to build a better tomorrow by instilling better values in them today. It's ridiculous what parents will allow their children to have.

Cell phones, text messaging, video games, computers, MySpace, MP3 players.

Back when I was a kid, all I needed were my friends and maybe a basketball and somebody's hoop. Friendships were made "in real life" where you knew you were with another kid and not some manipulative pedophile.

If we keep pacifying our kids with technology, they will be so unhealthy and unintelligent that our species will die out with them.

Kids need to develop important skills like social skills and something I think is sorely lacking today... imagination.

first we need to require our politicians to get our borders secure so that people from God knows where can't stream across the border unchecked. That's a serious security breach and asking people instead to throw out hairgel at the airport is not helping a fu**ing thing.
