Hey, we cant find the answers we wanna know, if we dont ask the questions, right? So, dont worry about being random. :) And as for your question...they say that an average human being needs an average of 8 hours of sleep...and i read somewhere recently that scientists now think that its best to sleep 10 hours a day, to be completely heathly. Personally, i think it just depends on how tired you are and what you´ve been doing during the past couple of days, you know? School, work, sports, etc. can be especially tiring, and so you´ll feel like you need more sleep and if you´re just relaxing at home you´ll probably feel like you need less sleep. It all depends on how much you need to re-energize, you know? I dont know if this has helped much, but hey im sure you´re just goin through one of those times where you feel like your sleep cycle isnt working for you, it´ll pass dont worry. Have a nice day. :)

8 hours is what the average person needs to work well the next day, however if you said that you're bored, it'snot because you didn't get enough sleep, it's because you aren't being stimulated enough. Get on the web and find an article that would interest you and you'll notice that the time will fly by. Or you can stand up and walk around, that should also wake you up. Did you have breakfast? That do say that it's the most important meal of the day for nothing. If you're body is digesting something, it's working and it will help you stay awake. Just a thought.

you are not necessarily falling asleep from lack of sleep. I was at a seminar a while back and though it was pretty interesting i kept dozing off. You might be lacking energy. Did you eat breakfast? That has a lot to do with it. People can maintain on like 6-8 hours of sleep and you were right in the middle. Try tomorrow eating a snack like a granola bar or some yogurt for breakfast. I bet it will help.

Dude,
I find that sometimes I have to go with about 3 hours sleep per day, and aside from falling asleep, I found myself getting irritable and cranky.
I usually need about 8 hours, but many times I just can't find that kind of time to dedicate to my sleeping pattern.
Working two jobs - it can get quite stressful on the 'sleep-factor', so instead of popping pills to stay awake, what I find helpful is washing my face with COLD water; grabbing an 'energy' drink such as RED BULL; and sugar (I grab a candy bar - sugar rushes help me make it to the end of the day).
This is not an ad for any product, just a mere suggestion that helps me cope with lack of sleep. Try it, you might just have a better chance staying awake.
Cheers

I get 5 to 4 1/2 each night. I work the 3rd shift at a ladies house. I sleep over there. The question is not relevant with the room!

It depends on the amount of energy you expended the day before. If you had a serious workout you might need more rest. If you don't sleep well, that could be an issue. I also know people that get sleepy when they are bored so perhaps trying to take an interest in the class might help.

I guess it depends on you. I only need 3 to 4 hours of sleep per night to feel great, but my husband requires 8 to 9. I would think that is varies from person to person and from situation to situation. You might be getting too much sleep. I know if I get too much sleep, I am sluggish and wanting to sleep more.

7 and a half hrs of sleep is not enough for a teenager. You need at least 9 hrs according to recent studies. Go to bed earlier.
