Human beings have always gathered together for mutual support and to take advantage of each other's skills. It's a delicate thing though, and any society is only three meals away from a revolution.

SOCIETY is a myth worshipped by people with social "science" degrees. Society is "possible" only as a concept that has been hallucinated into a ghostly existance, like alien abductors.
"I think we've been through a period where too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it's the government's job to cope with it. 'I have a problem, I'll get a grant.' 'I'm homeless, the government must house me.' They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SOCIETY. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There's no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation."

A better question is how is society NOT possible? Societies are everywhere, from the biggest cities to the smallest tribes. There are very few hermits in the world.

As soon as there are two people and they start to reproduce, it becomes a fact. Nothing can change it from then on. People impact society but they can't change the fact the it exists.

That is a very broad subject, it depends on what you want to elucidate. I mean what you want to talk about.
