When I was about 13 weeks pregnant, I was diagnosed with placenta previa. I follow orders from my doctor and the bleeding stopped 2weeks later, and the placenta moved back up. Now at my 20th week, last Friday, my water broke. I went through the whole labor process and lost my baby when he came out. Doctors tell me there's no answer to this, but I'm so confused. Has this happened to anyone? I want some sort of possible answers. And how soon can I conceive again? Do I treat this like a natural birth or a miscarriage? Please help

20 weeks or later it is not considered a miscarraige. It is neo-natal death or still-birth, if the baby was not born alive. Th most common reason for the water breaking that early is Incompetent Cervix. Did the doctor not check you for that? I lost a baby girl a month ago yesterday due to this. This is when the cervix starts to dilate because it is too thin to hold the baby and the bags of water after a certain point. If you get pregnant again you should ask your doctor about having the cervical stitching done. My OB told me that when I get pregnant again I have to have it done around 14-15 weeks. This should keep the cervix from dilating too soon

I am very sorry ... I could only find information for you here.

Placenta previa, the implantation of the placenta at least partially covering the cervix, occurs in about one in 200 pregnancies. There are actually three types of previa.
Complete previa where the cervical os is completely covered. Partial previa where just a portion of the cervix is covered by the placenta. And the marginal previa that extends just to the edge of the cervix.

First, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss.

Any loss of the fetus at or before 20 weeks is considered a miscarriage. After 20 weeks it is termed a still birth.

You should consult with your doctor as to when you should try again, because you were half way along, he might treat this as a still birth and he might want you wait till your body is back to normal to do tests on you, to see if they can rule anything out or improve your chances for next time.

That is just horrible. One of the worst things that can happen to a woman...good luck and keep the faith. and yes, since you delivered i'm sure they are considering it a birth ( i had a friend with a similar situation). My friend who lost her baby (delivered early)...got pregnant 4 months later. I guess you are super fertile now. I'm sure though your doctor will want you to wait for a few cycles before trying again.

Good luck.

A miscarriage is anything before full term where the baby dies.

You need to find out from your doctors what happened, and how they want you to deal with it.

If they cant educate you, or treat you seriously get a different hospital, doctor, and specialist.
