everyone is different. I was on strict bed rest when my son tried to come out at 28 weeks and ended up taking some kind of pill to stop the contractions. i had such bad side affects that i stop taking the medications and he came out at 31 weeks.. at 3 lbs. Do what the doctor say. The later he comes out, the healthier he'll be.

I'm not sure why you were put on bed rest if your baby is just "in position". Are you dilated and effaced? The baby being "in position" usually means that it is head down and face down and doesn't have anything to do with actually going into labor. Labor is only determined by effacement (thinning of cervix) and dilation of the cervix. So, without that info. it is hard to predict an answer, sorry!

This sounds very odd as it is completely normal for a baby to be in position from about midway through the second trimester. I'm not sure why you would be on bed rest now, unless the doctor also thinks the head is engaged. Even then you could easily go full term.

In first pregnancies, it is not unusual for baby to be in position and engaged in the seventh month. In latter pregnancies, this is not the case. There must be more than this for you to have been put on bed rest. Also, studies show that bed rest is not effective in delaying pre-term labor or birth. Good luck to you. It may be possible that your amniotic sac is bulging through the cervix. In this case, it would be quite wise to stay on bed rest to prevent pressure on the sac from causing it to rupture, increasing your chance for a cord prolapse.

bed rest usually is so that you dont start labor too early because walking around can do it...i would think that you have a feew more weeks yet...hopefully 31 weeks is early to have a baby

You can still go to your due date... my second daughter was in position by 30 wks and by no means was labor anytime close for me. I was wishing like crazy it was though!!! I ended up having to have her induced a week early cause I just couldnt take the uncomfortableness any longer... Was so tired of walking around feeling like I was going to drop her out at any second in the middle of the market!!!

I was told to go on bed rest at 25 wks.. Never did.... Ended up having to get induced labor one day after my due date.. not saying this is going to happen to you but.. you could go anywhere from today to after your due date. it all depends on your body and that baby.. are you dilated at all?
