Depends a lot on if you are a Mac person or a Windows person.

What platform do you currently use hence the majority of the applications you own are in?

What would your primary purpose be? If it is for general office work such as word processing spreadsheet etc a Mac ibook is more than enough. If you are interested in high-end gaming, the XPS is better suited.

Also, how computer savvy are you? Macs in general are low maintenance while PCs tend to need a lot of tweaking and fixing up in return for greater flexibility.

(ok I added the flexibility part to make it rhyme better but the bottom line is you will spend more time fixing things on a PC but there are some people who enjoy it)

Now there's a question for debate. A fast Dell running Windows, or a Mac just being fabulous?

Most people will choose the Windows machine simply because they don't use a Mac and the prospect of something a bit different scares them half to death.

Personally I'd buy a cheaper laptop and install Linux on it, then with the money I saved buy an XBox. Stable, reliable and fast computing for free and great games on a nice big screen.

Dell customer service SUCKS!!! I hate them.. I wouldn't buy Dell just because of that.. I have never ever been so frusterated in my entire life! So think about if you have a problem.. you have to call India and they barely speak english and you cant understand them at all.. SO find out that first.. just my thoughts..
