...just read that 10 - normally docile - stingrays have been killed on Australian Eastern coasts (in revenge attacks) since Steve Irwin was killed by one last week. Some retaliation...and I suspect this is hurting Mrs. Irwin all the more, but I doubt the 'hard' folk are thinking about that right now.

Damn...seems I've been beaten to it by a couple of equally confused observers - nice to see answerers rightly disgusted.

Funny, but some of the answers on the other questions are giving it the 'well...y'know. They are Australians.' That's a bit surreal and petty, for I suspect if a well loved person in the media was killed anywhere in the world by an animal, we would see oddities coming out of the woodwork to serve their particular punishment...unless it happens in, say, Brasil, as piranhas are not so docile!

Fear is a very powerful motivator!

The man was an expert and he got caught out and paid for it with his life. So, how do you expect Joe (not very bright) Public to react?

I know it is disgusting and overreacting;but our politicians do it all the time as a few countries east of Italy can testify; so maybe we have to put it all down to the human condition.

I think that's absolutely horrible. Steve Irwin was always aware that he was dealing with "wild animals," and he took the risks he chose to take in life because of his admiration for and love of these animals. But for someone to kill a wild animal in "retaliation" for what happened to an adult who knew what the risks involved were is outrageous! Shame on those who have done this.

Steve irwin loved to flirt with danger, and it is sad he was killed, but what moron would do this as a "revenge attack" They are sick, sick, sick, scary people, if you can call them people that is. Bloody morons, would steve irwin have wanted this? He loved his wildlife, he would be gutted!! Bloody bird brains!! They need stringing up!!!

Golly i thought you were joking! Are you sure this is happening? If so ... Steve Irwin must be turning in his grave! He loved them! How stupid. Are they trying to kill them all until they find the one who killed Steve and take him to court??? Honestly! How stupid is that. You're right Steve's wife wouldn't like that and i do know one thing for sure ... He'd go mad as well!

why would people care that much? did they know him...obviously not, they didn't understand his love for all creatures. These people are obsessed with a actor on T.V. and no one sees anything wrong with this!
