Why would you?
You can run but you can't hide.
You are your past so long as you live in it,
and running or hiding is living in it.
What you do now is what matters.
What you did before is exactly what it took
to get to where you are now.
Nothing more
Nothing less.

To run from your past is to face it in the future. You have to take a look at the reason you are escaping your past, is it due to shame, fear or is it just the need to reinvent your self. If you are trying to re-invent yourself then you should know that the traits yo had as a child are the same underlying traits that you have as an adult thus you can not escape yourself, if it is due to an outside issue outside yourself that may effect you negatively then yes distance yourself. To escape my past I can't run far, I live in the area where I was raised and my neighbors are all members of my past and present so for me when I do not feel like facing or talking to others then I disappear, turn of the phones, refuse to answer the door or better then that I just simply go for a road trip and gather my thoughts and then brave what ever it is that I am afraid of facing or refusing to deal with because I know that when it comes down to it I will have to face it in the end. I hope that helps!

I am so happy right now in the present, and I would not be here with out the past so I don't want to escape the past, just honor it.

I honestly would never want to escape my past. I am sure there are things I wish wouldn't have happened and things I wish I could change, but hey that's life, we live and learn from our past mistakes so we know what not to do in the future.

I'd rather turn back the clock then escape the past, becasue no matter where you go it will always be there so the other side of the universe isnt far enough if you ask me

A victim of abuse or maltreatment will somehow find refuge, anonymity and a little bit of peace in a place far (very, very far) from where he/she come from... where possibly only very few people would know him/her except for what he/she is running from. There he/she can make or assume a new beginning, leaving the past behind; but may be haunted by it every now and then until time heals the pain or sufferring he/she has gone through.

People try to escape the past in lot of ways, food, drugs, booze, any obsessive behavior regardless of how self destructive, because if offers a diversion and they don't have to think about the past they wish wouldn't have happened. But think of it this way, everything you've done has contributed to the person you are right now, so if you like that person, the past event, no matter how ugly, had to happen, and make its contribution to your overall personality. So don't dwell on it, a pretty girl like you has a lot more future to think about than past.

The past happened for a reason so don't discard it. Just improve your future by learning from your mistakes.
