Trust me, the gynecologist doesn't care if you shave or not. As long as you are clean and healthy it doesn't matter.

Until the 19220's most women did not shave any parts of their bodies. Then a major razor manufacturer made a razor specifically for women to use eon their armpits and legs. About the same time women's apparel took a turn where short sleeved dresses were OK to wear as well as skirts that came up to the knees. Thus, putting two and two together, it was an easy transition into women having haiy pits and legs when they were covered by clothing to shaving the hair off to make them "look" more feminine. That was all well and good until the swim wear companies came out with a one piece suit with an attached skirt that let more leg show. Not only more leg, but if the wearer wasn't careful, tendrils of pubic hair would pop out the sides of it (heaven forbid) and gentlemen might get the wrong idea. Thus, now pubic hair needed to eithere be timmed or removed totally. As some have stated, the hair was there for a reason, but many women felt it needed to be removed. So- pubic hair removal gained steam and the razor manufacturers made some more dough because of it. Hair is certain parts of the human body for a variety of reasons. If it wasn't supposed to be there, it wouldn't be.

I shave my pubic hair into a small landing strip. I also go to the nude beach frequently and most girls there are either completely shaved or have a small strip of pubic hair. If your pubic area is going to be seen (in public or even just by your intimate lovers), it's more attractive to keep it well groomed.
My point is that since many girls are now shaving or severely trimming our pubic hair, the gyno has seen it all and probably could care less what you do with your bush...or lack of it.

Don't feel embarrassed... If your gyn is a male he probably likes it shaved anyway (:) females probably like it too so they don't have a bush to fight when trying to examine you. Shaved pubic area would be easier for the gyn to detect any abnormalities that come with STD's not to mention you would appear to be a cleaner lady. I shave personally because it makes me feel cleaner and fresher... besides you don't sweat as much with a shave pubic area.

I'm sure it's alot more comfortable for them actually. I know a few people in the healthcare world and I know that an unkept hee haw is not pleasant for them to deal with. I used to shave completely so I know what you mean, that 'naked' feel with your gyno!~

No. I feel better and more comfortable if I am nice and clean and smooth. And I think that it puts them at ease cause they see so many women a day, and I'm sure that some of them are nasty and don't take care of themselves, so I would think it is a treat for them to examine someone who cares about their body and isn't gross.

Yes. I think that going to a gyno is embarrassing anyway, but it does feel weird. You wonder if they are being gudgemental. Just think about it this way: a gynocologist sees thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of vaginas in their time of being a doctor, I don't think that they really care what it looks like. So as long as you like yourself that way, than you are fine, and don't worry about it.

I'm a shaver. And no its not embarrassing. There are more women that shave than there are women that let it go. Go half way and do a landing strip if you aren't comfortable.

THe gyno has seen them shaved and hair covered and everything in between.
I would only be embarrassed if it was like dyed pink or something.

I think most women now are at least partially if not all shaved. It's probably more the norm now than women who don't.
