They are so strong that wake me up. The only thing that will help me sleep is to put ice. I am 41. There is no swelling of the joint and it is not warm so I don't think it is gaut.

If it's not gout, maybe it's a referred pain, frm a trapped nerve.
I've had multiple trapped nerves in my back & have had severe knee pains recently (I have to grab hold of something, so I don't fall over). I used to get severe hip pain,. So it seems like the pressure is chaning a little and tweaking a different nerve in my back.
It's not pleasant, but very refreshing - pure pain that cuts through everything else going on at the time - but I'm glad I don't get it while driving.

same thing w. me kinda, all of a sudden my foot will just spazz out and my whole foot feels numb and then it travels up to my leg and it hurts like a MF but i dont know what the heck all that is about, put it this way, it hurts so bad i thought i was having a heartattack
