I keep hearing that if we lose the "war" US women will be wearing burkas and we'll be reading the koran. Does this mean that we'll be in danger of invasion by islamic fundamentalists who will conquer us?

The real question is; would it somehow be worse than the Christofascists who are now running things?

No way.
They want to get us our of their back yard, not get into someone else's back yard themselves. Besides, if they tried to invade we'd fight them off the way they're fighting us now in Baghdad.
Incidentally, "Islamofascists" is a nonsense word. Whoever invented it doesn't care what "fascism" means, which is "an authoritarian and right-wing system of govenment and social organization. Fascism includes a strong relationship between government and industry, an insistance on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach."
The Muslim extremists don't have a governmental organization at all, let alone a relationship between government and industry.
If you look at governments, the way industry pulls the strings behind the scenes in Washington, and the way the GOP insists that everyone who disagrees with Bush is "un-American," we are actually closer to the description of fascism than the Islamic fundamentalists.
But "Fascism" is such an emotive word that any red-blooded American bristles at the sound of it, so the GOP uses it on the Muslims.

That's really close to being funny.
We destabilized Iraq, which is the only reason the islamofascists are free to operate in THAT country. Under Saddam, they couldn't openly activate.
There are way more groups operating in Iraq and the middle east than Al Qaida. The ones you could lump under Islamofascist don't all like each other, so I don't see them joining up well enough to invade Saudi Arabia (their holy land, and Al Qaida's true goal), let alone the US.

Let's deal with this issue logically. There are 250 Million + Americans and only a small percentage are Muslim.

Even if we leave Iraq, do you really believe that most people here in the U.S. will adopt a dress code????

I just don't see that happening.

But I do see another scenario happening. In Hitler's time, they went after the Jews and blamed them for all the problems and sent the Jews to concentration/extermination camps, and the Germans believed is was the right thing to do. At the same time, we here in the U.S. started interning the Japanese Americans because of fear of their terrorism coming here and to protect ourselves.

In both of those internments in WWII a lot of innocent people were imprisoned strictly on the basis of fear of a person's genetic factors.

My bigger concern is that we will do the same to protect ourselves and put behind prison walls a lot of people who have never harmed others. Most Islamic people are very peaceful. The analogy for this would be to blame the Pope for the actions of Randall Terry (abortion clinic activist).

We need to be very careful not to generalize all people of a particular religion or race into one category just because it's easier not to realize they are very different people.

No, because there are no such things as "islamofascists". The terrorists are not fascists, by any stretched meaning of the word. They are religious fanatics. However, that term is naturally avoided by an administration whose main base of support can easily be described in the same way.

No.
They will attempt to kill americans whether or not we are in Iraq. They have said so in no uncertain terms.

Invasion isn't really the right term. We're far too big for anybody but the future China to be able to truly invade and occupy. But- we're still free enough for them to randomly kill people using terrorist methods.

I'm wondering- its it better for them to have a country for them to prosper in, such as Iran- so that we have a country to fight against, than to try and take over any country that gives them safe haven. Perhaps knowing where they have haven and allowing it to exist is our best method of fighting the terrorist threat.???

What do you mean by invade? A military invasion along the same lines as our invasion of Normandy in WWII?? Absolutely not, not possible, won't ever happen. But we have already been invaded by terrorists, they are already here and will continue to come here and kill Americans. They do not fight the way we are used to thinking of fighting wars. They want to terrorize us and scare us into leaving the Middle East, to end our support of Israel and to give them a free hand to set up Theocratic governments such as the Taliban, that adhere to their radical view of Islam.

If we leave Iraq we open the door for them to use another country as a bastion and safe haven as they did in Afghanistan.

Make no mistake, whether you agreed with us invading Iraq or not it has now become a pivotal point in the war on terror. The terrorist made it so, they choose to fight us in Iraq and fight our attempts to build a free, democratic nation there. If we lose, we lose a lot more than a free Iraq. This War won't be over anytime soon, even if we win in Iraq the War against Terror will continue for a long, long time. The war in Iraq is just one battle in what will be a long and difficult war.

People should remember that 9/11 was the 2nd bloodiest day in American History. More Americans died on that one day than died at Pearl Harbor(2400+) and even more than died at Normandy(1465) in WWII. Only one day in American history saw more Americans dying in one day and that was at Antietam (3700+)during the Civil War. Do you want more or worse 9/11's? Then you'd better get behind us winning in Iraq whether you think we should be there or not.

The Islamofascists have come right out and said that they want to wipe us (infidels) off the face of the earth.

They invaded us (9-11, remember?).

They tried to blow up a navy ship (the Cole, remember?)

They have attacked many of our embassies (did you know that?)

When someone tells you that he wants to kill you and attacks you again and again, you had better take him seriously.

These people, these crazed Islamofascists are deadly serious when they say they want to annihilate us. And now they have nuclear power and are enriching bomb-grade uranium.

It's time to stop having anti-Bush tantrums and start working together to present a united front.

Otherwise your kids -- if they survive the nuclear halocaust the terrorists are planning -- will be slaves. (Did you know they still have slaves over there?)

Not really. If they leave Iraq it means only that their development will be also an open air one.
They are afraid and are hiding. If they will leave Iraq it will leave them free to do what they are suposed to be doing for terorism.
I think.:)

No way. If they wanted to why would they wait until we left Iraq?
