The best places to search for people in NZ are:

www.whitepages.co.nz
but for this you need to know their full name and the town they live in.

Another option is
www.oldfriends.co.nz
this is good if you only know their name. you will probably have to register with the site but it's free. This site is used by heaps of kiwis to try and get hold of old school mates and such.
