Well Scotty, if you were a teen I might have suggested you consider whether you want to be in a "broken home"; if you told your mom maybe they would have had a big row and split up.
If you were a teen, I might have asked how it was YOUR telescope ... or was it something your dad bought for you.
Since you are 34, then likely your mom and dad are about 60. Maybe your dad is just trying to "remember" ...?
You might ban your dad from using your telescope for a couple of months.
Or you might discreetly (if possible) suggest to your neighbour that she has heavier blinds/drapes on her windows!
Or you might take your telescope back to your own house and be reluctant to let him borrow it again.
