Technically, Bill Gates will no longer be working soon. He announced his intention to retire from his full-time position at Microsoft and run the charity foundation he started with his wife. They will be focusing on breast cancer and AIDS, if I remember correctly. Bill Gates stated that he's earned enough money now (he certainly got that right!) and that know it's time for him to give back to the community-at-large.

In the case of Tiger Woods, he's getting paid to play golf. If it was me, I'd say it wasn't a job at all. I don't blame him for continuing to play. After all, he's unstoppable now. Not only that, but he's so fortunate to be able to make a living playing a sport where you get to take long walks on beautifully kept greens feeling the breeze and hearing birds chirping. I envy him more for that than for the money he makes. Go get 'em, Tiger!

Simple: they are not working for money! They aren’t actually “working” at all, they just do what they love to do! For us mere mortals it seems stupid to have all that money and still keep working, but think about it – you can only lie on a desert island and look at the waves, seeing how long you can grow your fingernails for so long! Then it gets boring! I promise you all those people with the billions have traveled their travels, seen what has to be seen, done what had to be done, now they are in it for the sheer heck of it!
Same reason you may play video games – for fun! Except, when they “score” in their game of life, it impacts economies, countries, communities. When you score in a Video game, you get to reach the high scores list, and not much else.

You have 2 different kinds of guys there...a golfer...or any one in sports...plays not just for the money but because they might love the sport. He has an image and is famous for his skill at a sport. Bill Gates is a much bigger icon, IMHO. He is very rich, self made and totally DRIVEN! He is a guy who thrives on innovation and new ideas...

A very general answer for all this...to them...they are not working...this is fun!

Once you've decured yourself financially, you become more interested in indulging your other fantisies. Maybe you want to be #1 in the world, or become the biggest Philanthropist that has ever lived. Many of my own studies into the matter have showed that persons alive always look for money-power-permanance. Most of us never get past the money part, but those that do, often look for power in the form of private or political clout, then erect statues, businesses, or charity funds, seemingly to cheat death and transcended us all. It sounds mean, but hey, show me someone who would loss intrest in wealth and find excitement in their eccentricities. If they didn't keep busy, the guilt of thier own inequality, or perhaps the resentment all would feel to them would make life miserable!

Its their tireless work ethic that made them billionaires in the first place. By the way, Tiger woods is no billionaire.

It has always been about doing what they love. The money is just gravy.

Hell, I'd play golf everyday for my current salary.
