Pssh make the criminals pay for their own meals. Everyone else has to, when they aren't out killing people, etc. Why should I pay for their meal, even if it is their last?
But if I were on death row, I'd want pasta- chicken alfredo. And some garlic bread and milk. I like simple meals like that. But I'd finish off with lots and lots of ice cream!!!
Good luck on your paper...

I would pray to God that I was never in this situation, but IF I were, I would ask to make myself some homemade pizza..it would mostly have vegetables on it..as for the tax payers picking up the tab, I guess only if the I were indigent and myself or my family couldn't afford to pay for the ingredients..I think in the real world though I heard somewhere that there is a limit on the amount of money that will be spent on an inmates 'last meal'. Good luck on your paper and God bless...

Scallops in a white wine sauce with snow peas and a baked tater with bacon and cheese and lots of butter . TO wash it all down a bottle of Johnny walker black .Skip the meal , just the scotch under 30 bucks . I will never be on death row and a mans last meal no matter what he has done should be whatever he wants .
People are not born killers ,but made into them .
Society is to blame for 97% of all murders . Greed over money is the major reason for murder .

Max & Erma's Bacon Cheeseburger, Checkers/Rally's french fries, and a Milk Shake from Steak n Shake. ;)

And after supporting a prisoner for 10-20 years on death row, a $20 meal isn't going to make or break the government.

I'd have a dozen Big Macs, 2 large chocolate shakes, some fries, and a large sausage pizza. That way there will be a nice mess for authorities to clean up when I void my bowels upon my death. And yes, the taxpayers can pay that. Why would I care? I'm dead.

A McDonalds quarter pounder with cheese meal, with a strawberry milkshake. Supersize me then electrify me!!!!!

And yes, the tax payer should fork out for it. But then seeing as I've worked all my life since leaving school and had to pay tax, it'll be just like I've bought it anyway.

I thank you!!

Coucous and méchoui. Together with all my friends. Of course the taxpayers should pay. I'd have been wrongly extradited and convicted. I've never even BEEN to Texas, much less killed anybody there.

I know they've got their quota to meet, but why pick on tourists?

I'm sure Kinky Friedman will put a stop to this.

Steak, baked potato, garlic bread, corn on the cob,and a large draft beer. And yes the tab would be picked up by my family, not the government. After all, my family would want my final moments to be as pleasant as could possible be for me. Even though if I was in that situation, they would know whole heatedly I screwed up to have myself there.

Prisons aren't allowed to starve prisoners in US prisons,(the 6th Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishment) so taxpayers simply have to pay. That is the least of the costs associated with imprisonment and execution.

It wouldn't matter to me what I ate. I'd never commit a capitol offense so I'd be unjustly accused, imprisoned and convicted. I'd have too much of a bitter taste in my mouth, even at the end, to enjoy any kind of food.

Human liver with fava beans.....

Just kidding, would probably be too upset and nauseous to have any appetite.

But my favorite meal would be lobster, asparagus and some kind of chocolate. But alas, I am allergic to chocolate. Hey, there's an idea, eat chocolate, have a bad allergic reaction, get taken to hospital. At least one day's reprieve!
