Foremost, it makes it easier to cite in-text references; you don't have to worry about footnotes running over to the next page, or adjusting your pagination when you need to consider endnotes (there are none).

Second, you can cite multiple sources and references by just separating them using a semicolon for a given citation (where there are many sources worth citing or referring to).

Third, there is no need to distract the reader with footnotes or endnotes, hence he/she can read the paper with continuity.
