How long before my flight do I need to leave the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to catch my 5:23PM flight from DTW airport in Detroit?

since you have to be there 2 hour before - just get on 94 and head east at least 3-3.5 hours prior. add another 30-45 minutes if you have to return a rental car and if you are flying northwest and a rental car 45 minutes. realize that rush hour starts at 2:15p with the people heading to the second shift.
also with th 5-6p flights -- the security lines are pretty long. if you're flying NWA and the lines upstairs are long (where you get dropped off for the departing flights) check down the exscalators to the entrance off the parking structure!

It's only 25 min drive from metro detroit airport to Ann Arbor. It's about 22 mile only

I would give some leaway time in case of road problems/accidents
leave a hour before you need to be there
ALSO.. are you allowing time for parking, getting thru heightened security?
