Sigh.... oh dear... I haven't been on here for a while and I remember why now.
I am not 'ignorant', or a 'racist'... it was a 'bit of fun' question because I was so bored at work. Can you people (some of you) PLEASE lighten up and get some kind of sense of humour!!! Life really is too short!!!!

Define "so many." Then open your eyes and look around. Japanese people come in all shapes and sizes. There aren't too many pure-blooded Japanese left due to multiple occupations by multiple countries, them occupying multiple countries themselves, and of course immigration/emmigration. So, depending on what else is in their blood line may give them different traits. Before WWII, they were mostly very short people. Now, with more meat, milk and other protein sources available, many in the younger generations are getting to be quite tall. Just like white people, their skin color, nose shape and size, hair texture, jaw structure, etc, vary greatly from one person to another. If you can't put two of them side by side and tell them apart, then you simply aren't looking.
The Japanese are very interesting in that other than being human, scientists don't know where they originally came from. Pure-blooded Japanese people are no more genetically closer to any population on the continent of Asia than they are to Scandanavians. They've a four percent linguistic correlation to Russian, but even that can be chalked up to chance. And pure-blooded Japanese, particularly in the Northern regions are not dark skinned at all. The Okinawans are not Japanese, but came over from India at some point, have their own culture, language and everything else. It's all very interesting if you take the time to care.

People of one race all look alike to people of other races.
Asian people often can tell a Japanese from a Chinese from a Korean at a glance, just as there are typical-looking Slavic people or Celtic.
I lived on Indian reservations for many years, and got so that I could usually distinguish among Navajos, Hopis, and Zunis.
At one place I worked, the Navajo people all mistook me for another guy who was the same height and general build.
They were embarrassed by this, so I made jokes about how white people are pretty good at telling each other apart.
Soon, the Navajos were telling the same joke about themselves. Navajo people love to joke and make puns in their own language.

There aren't. The population of Japan is shrinking. Maybe you mean Chinese? Or Asians (or do you still call them Orientals?) Hmm?
It's very well documented in science that people have more trouble telling people apart if they belong to different races. That's all the time I have to waste on you

ignorant racist. they are easy to tell apart as they all look different, it's the same with any nationality.
I find it hard to tell the difference between 2 racists as they all share the same brain cell.

It would be easy if one of them was kicking you and the other was punching. Then I could tell them apart real quick.
