There is no strict rule on what "system" or "application" password means

"System" password can be used to mean the BIOS password, the Windows password, or the password that gets you onto a network.

"Application" password gets you into an application. As that application may reside on a network drive, the application password may also be a network password. And since Windows itself is an application, the Windows password could also considered an "application" password.

Have I confused you yet? Good. Then you are like all the rest of us. LOL

Both are system password. The difference is that BIOS runs on the background of another system such as Windows. Example of application password would be having one with your email or your Office software.

It gets worse - wait until if/when you join a network & have a network password - and all your passwords expire at a different time.
