Would it be considered "reality" if there's a director calling the shoots and angles?? There's just lots of so called "reality" tv shows but nothing really seemed real at all! It's just spicing it up with the word "reality" and some famous faces.

It is all done under controlled conditions. And, I am sure they have embellished more then once. Reality TV what a farce.
Even the FCC will tell you that contests like American Idol are not real contests, but staged for mass appeal and mass marketing.

No. It IS staged, and even if its not necissarily "Rehearsed" with scripts, they cut out and edit a lot of conversations or events to make it more interesting, even sometimes reversing the order of things to make it seem like someone's guilty or started something when they're not.
Also, a lot of the times, they get paid to CREATE conflict, or like... in the "Real World", they choose people who would be most likely not to get along with each other and have extremely outgoing, explosive personalities.

I doubt it. A few ppl that have been on Big Brother have said that in their Diary Room sessions they are asked very leading questions. A lot is edited for the show that is broadcasted to portray the houseguest in the way the network thinks it can get the highest ratings for.

To be perfectly honest, I don't consider reality television to be real, mainly because so many of the events depicted aren't, in my mind, reality. Yes, it's real, because it's happening, and it's supposedly not scripted or straged, but it's not "nature running its course".

There is no way reality TV can be reality unless its hidden cameras! As soon as people know they are on TV they will act differently even if they say they don't!! But ALL reality TV shows SUCK anyway!!

No and some more no. They are surrounded by cameras. Who the hell do you know that acts real around a camera. People's grandmother's even act fake on camera at the family reunion. It is a natural instinct.

No, not really I guess.. since the producers and everyone behind the camera edit out the boring/lame stuff and only air the drama/good stuff that we see on tv.

yes.. "reality tv' is fake. For instance in American idol, the producer or the director signals the audience when to clap, when to cheer, or go boo-boo. In certain cases, the judging panel is biased. its just sheer marketing tactics that draws huge crowd for its viewing.
