I suggest Ulysses S. Grant, who was the Union general who won the US Civil War. Grant was also a two-term president from 1868 to 1876, and was the president responsible for the beginnings of the US national park system.

Grant is often misunderstood and there are frequent myths and outright lies about him, mostly from southerners trying to re-write the history of the Civil War. Grant was a very interesting leader.

There are many, but in order to eliminate, you must first...not include yourself. You are a minute person in a large pond. Stick to learning proper vocabulary and/or typing and using spell check before providing samples of lack of parenting skills here on Y! Answers. Obviously your parents/guardians don't care enough about your book learnin' to folla true wit yoar languidg skiwls.

As a naturalized American, when friends in the UK ask WHY on earth did you become an American - they're all idiots, I tell them about people like Burt Rutan (see links).

How about Mahatma Ghandi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghandi) or Ernest Shackleton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shackleton) or Randolph Falcon Scott (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Falcon_Scott)?

If you prefer charismatic yet evil, there's always Stalin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalin), Lenin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenin) or Mao Zedong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao)

I would say Napoleon. It's amazing how much he did without firing on shot.
