A marriage is a partnership, and it illustrates why partners in business are better off not assigning the stock exactly 50/50. Because you can deadlock on any decision, and will probably do so in part because of the power trip involved.
It is a woman's job to marry a man whose judgment and integrity she can trust, and then trust him. So the man is the captain, and the woman is the first mate. That includes, of course, advising the captain of matters that may have escaped his notice if he seems to be making a bad decision, but being willing to live by his decision if, after having been so advised, he is determined to make the same choice. Hopefully, he will have enough wisdom to explain his reasons and convince you of his wisdom, but if not, you still need to trust him.

An important point to remember here is that not all people are religious, nor do all people follow the Bible. If a family so chooses, they may make the man a dominant force and undeniable Head of House, but without religion, there is a greater grey area.
In my personal opinion, a man and woman should try to agree or compromise, at least coming to some consensus, on large and important issues, but each can feel free to decide smaller or individual things on their own. They do not need to discuss EVERYTHING before taking action; perhaps if one wants the advice of the other it should be discussed, or if the matter in question will effect both parties.

the bible says the husband is the head of the family, do to men are made to be thinkers and usually make better desisions!but he must , when making a decission for the family, ask or get the wifes opinion on matters!a union of husband and wife is consisting of 2 and 2 should be in agreement! but if the husband makes the final desision and the wife don`t agree ,he is the head and he has the final say right or wrong and if you let him deside don`t say anything...you will be showing respect. and he will remember and love you for it!if you say ... honey its up to you, even if you don`t agree, he will love you for letting him make it! also men love to be on a petastool and have loving comments made! you sometimes get your voice heard and your way when you do this!

I think that husbands and wives ought to have similar goals and ideas. That way, if the ship is sinking they can work together, support each other's decisions and save the ship. They ought not be in conflict.

Both should work together equally as a team. Never try to be more dominant than the other, it shows the kids that they can getaway with more or disrespect the other parent if they think that one is easier than the other.

Husband and wife should be equals. This is 2006 not 1886. You shouldn't even have to ask this question.
