The equator is at zero degree angle so neither of the poles are farther than it. It's just the same.

Surely the Equator is defined as being midway between the poles, therefore the answer is that it is equal distance from both. But this is at a hypothetical sea level. Therefore in some places you'd have to climb over tall mountains to the north pole (eg from Indian ocean you've got to cross the Himalayan Range), but just travel across the ocean to the south pole, making the journey to the north pole longer.

The Geographic South Pole is farther away from the Equator than the Geographic North Pole because the North Pole is at sea level (or slightly above due to sea ice) and the South Pole lies on the East Antarctic Ice Shelf at an elevation of 2835 meters (9301 feet).

PS - Since the Earth is oblate, the Geographic North Pole is the closest point on the surface of the Earth to the Earth's center of mass. Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador is the farthest point from the Earth's center of mass.

Good trick question. ATM it is the South Pole, because they are both magnetic and move ever so slightly. The magnetic North and South Poles, are rarely at the geographic N & S poles, which are equi-distant from the equator.
ATM The North pole is at 82.7° N 114.4° W, and the south pole is at 63.5° S 138.0° E, making the south pole closer.

That's like asking "which is furthest away from the middle - the top or the bottom?"

By definition, they are equally far apart. Otherwise the middle wouldn't be the middle!
