I live in Orlando and have an annual pass to Disney and can tell you the crowds are not bad at all in December. You can already tell a difference in the crowds there now, and it is only September. The closer you get to Christmas, the more crowds there are, but since you are going before xmas, you should fair well with crowds!

You might get the beginning of the holiday crowds. Just remember that the whole WORLD visits Disney, so there are always crowds!
I have been in May (on Mother's Day) and September (hurricane season). I am going back next week. (September was awesome!)
My sister has been every month of the year and she says that September is the best as far as crowds go. I am also going again later this year, probably the first week of December. (I really want to see the Christmas decor.)

I use to work at MGM & Epcot & the peak holiday season starts around the week before Thanksgiving & last until the second week of January. Your best time to go is August through the end of October. No long lines, nice weather, etc.

First of all there are always crowds in Disney World. But, that is part of the fun of going. I would break up your day while you are there....go in the early morning for about 4 hours. Go back to the motel for 4 hours and then stay until closing to enjoy the fireworks. If you have small children it gives them a chance to take a nap and not be so irritable and make others mad at you.

its always cowded at disney.
its not as bad from mid september through mid october. then right after thanksgiving until about a week or so before xmas.
magic kindom is ALWAYS crowded because its a smaller park. epcot is huge, so the crowds don't seem too bad.
if you have children, its always a good idea to take breaks throughout the day. they can get really cranky because of the visual overload.
this website has park hours and special event listings and really every thing disney world
