I have tried increasing the size of virtual memory, defragmenting, is there anything else I can do to fix this problem? I am using a copaq presario with Windows XP. Software program I am using to burn is mydvd plus. It will burn files smaller than 2gbs no problem.

Try making your virtual memory file as low as possible. Same thing happened to me a good while back and I got so ticked off that I just lowered the virtual memory to something like 20MB.

Worked like a charm.

Virtual memory is hard drive space that your computer uses when it runs out of "real" memory. If you are burning a 2gb file, you will need a minimum of 2gb of hard drive space for the virtual memory. My guess is that you do not have that much free space on your hard drive. Before the program can write the file to a DVD, it has to convert it to DVD format. That means it has to make a copy of the entire file (plus) to your hard drive. And virtual memory for the DVD burner program itself, plus anything else you have running (like Windows itself) So it has to have more than 2gb of free space. Usually about double the size of the file (4 gb). If you do not have that much space, you will need to free up some space on your hard drive.

this is significant ok, in case you purchase a DVD burner verify it burns DVD-R disks, emphasis on the unfavorable R. there grew to become into yet yet another media format conflict some years in the past DVD-R vs DVD+R. One grew to become into extra effective at storing video clips -R and one grew to become into extra effective at storing information +R. in case you own the offered DVD then you are legally allowed to make one reproduction. to try this you elect DVD ripping application, i take advantage of an extremely stepped forward one that has no front demonstrate so i won't propose any anticipate maybe DVDShrink yet confirm you get carry of it from a respected internet site DVD ripping application is a significant source of application nasties like spyware and the such.
