If there was a genuine technological leap and and good games being realeased, sure I'd pay the big money. The PS3 doesn't seem to have either though...just smug comments from Sony executives about how Sony is so cool people will buy the system because of the name alone. Sorry to the Sony guys, but they burned me with the PSP...a game system that has several serious design flaws IMO. It feels like the system is being put out only to try and force people into buying yet another Sony propietary media...bluetooth. I'd need to see some stellar games that deliver a new gameplay experience or overwhelmingly good story to get to me on the hook for this console.
Mind you, I said the same thing about the 360; I hated my X-Box (I don't play sports or FPS games, so my library was limited to just the bioware RPGs and some action adventure titles) and swore off that system. It wasn't until oblivion came out that I bought into that system, and have been pleasantly surprised. I'm not saying I won't get a PS3...I'm just waiting to see if anything good ever comes out for it.

Well first I don't want to spend over $200 on anything cause I'm cheap and broke like that. LOL! But secondly I never buy first generation systems because they are still working out all the bugs. So by the time the price drops, the second gen will most likely be out, or they will atleast have fixed all the problems so it's a far better investment anyway. And I'm hoping that the games aren't like the 360...$60-$80. Ugh, what a waste!!! They don't seem to realize they are going to turn a lot of people off with their prices.

Sure I'm going to drop my money on it for sure. The blue-ray player alone goes for over 1000.00 bucks so why not, the 360 is just as much after you get done buying all the extra crap like the hd HDTV drive and the wireless network card, and don't forget your 50 bucks a year to x-box live. You get all of the same stuff out of the box with the PS3. The PS3 has good games and the hardware is the best i have ever seen. i can tell you that when the PS3 comes out on November 17Th you won't be able to get one, because they will be gobbled up by everyone in the u.s.a.

Nope. I told myself from the beginning that if the console is more the $500 it's gonna wait. Not because I can't afford it, but on general principle. That's too damn much for a little bit of fun. I can go down the river and have fun swimming for free, you know? Hell, for the price of the PS3 w/game you could build yourself a nice new AR-15. That's how you know the machine costs too much.
