I am all for a Republican President and Dem House
But not the Senate it should be balanced and represent the States.
The House is supposed to represent the peoples needs. It should be all about Pork Barrel spending.
The Government worked very well with Raygun and Tip O'Niel
Both were old school two fisted Irishmen. Raygun was a labor boss for years As head of the SAG he fought for workers rights. He showed tones of Waterfront's Johnny Friendly in his management of the Union. O'Neil was a wealthy corrupt politician that muscled his way through House Bills.
It doesn't get any better than that.

Nope. The government has a system of institutional checks and balances that work even if one party controls both the executive and legislative branches. Besides, if you look at how ineffective Bush has been with his party in control and how Clinton was ineffective in the 2 years his party controlled Congress, then you can surmise that just because one party controls everything isn't a guarantee of a unified vision. On top of that, look at Canada, Britain, and other parliamentary democracy's where the majority party elects the executive from within. They generally work pretty well too (though there have been exceptions).

Never.
We must never have the congress & Pres be opposite parties.
Especially if both are democrat...
But in either case, the only time anything gets done is when its same parties in both.
IN the case of demo, u can see what total control does when they have it all (look at the 30+ years (pre-1990's) of problems that has taken 10+ years to try to fix, & is still being worked on.

balance would be fine if the dems were not so far out in left field.
they would raise taxes so high us retired folks would have to get 2 jobs just to pay for their socialistic programs.
i am voting straight republican as there is not a dem worth having here in Arkansas.

I used to feel this way but nothing ever gets done because one side plays against the other because of politics.
It is too bad our representatives just can't be true to themselves or their constituents. It's all game playing and so much positive is left undone.
