According to the actual fairy tale it was 100 years. In the movie it was only long enough for the prince to fight the evil fairy.

100 years - THE prince was only able to enter the castle because accidentally the hundred years (the fairy imposed) were over. Many other princes died while trying to enter. She would probably have taken any of them. Sad thought? Sad but true! In the German original sleeping beauty is called Dornröschen = thorny rose which clearly refers to the difficulties she caused her potential lovers.

it couldn't have been that long because the same night she went to sleep philip broke out of that dungeon and killed the wicked melificint(spelling?) so i'm guessing just a few hours... that's in the disney version of course.
