One of my all time favorite songs is Manfred Mann's Earth Band covering Bruce Springsteen's 'Blinded By The Light'.

There are lots of great covers of Bob Dylan songs that I like better than the originals...

All Along The Watchtower -- Jimi Hendrix
It's All Over Now Baby Blue -- Grateful Dead
She Belongs To Me -- Greatful Dead
Senor -- Jerry Garcia Band
Absolutely Sweet Marie -- Flamin' Groovies
Tears Of Rage -- The Band
All I Really Want To Do -- Cher
You Ain't Goin' Nowhere -- Byrds
I Pity The Poor Immigrant -- Judy Collins
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right -- Eric Clapton
The Mighty Quinn -- Manfred Mann
I Shall Be Released -- Max Creek

One other that I thought of... I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn perfom an instrumental cover of Jimi Hendrix's 'Little Wing' that was absolutely epic.

I love Death Cab For Cutie's version of 'All Is Full Of Love'. I don't think it's better than the original done by Bjork, but comes the closest I've ever heard for a cover.

A cover I hate is Sixpence None The Richer's version of 'There She Goes'. The original done by The La's was a diatribe against Margaret Thatcher and it was hacked to pieces by Sixpence.

I agree with carolina girl about Metallicas version of Turn the Page. I also think HIM did an awesome job of Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. Rage Against the Machines version of How I Could Just Kill A Man by Cypress Hill too.

Don't get me wrong, even though i am 26, I ABSOLUTELY love Seger, but I think Metallica done a great rendition of "Turn The Page"... and not that it beats the original, but Limp Bizkit's remake of "Wish You Were Here" was pretty sick. (that means awesome, to some of the older ppl.) "I will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston, and how about "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam???
