My best friend's car has been overheating, and there was a leak from one of the intake hoses so we replaced that thinking that would do the trick, however, it continued to overheat. So she took it to a shop and had a cooling system test ran on it to see what's causing the overheating. A crack in the intake Manifold. She was told it would be preety expensive to replace. Would this problem also cause issues with your sensor? Because her airbag light keeps flashing too.

it going to cost around 360 dollars to replace the manifold,,but that don't have anything to do with the air bag light on it,,,its a totally separate thing,,it probably has a bad sensor for the air bag that's causing it to flash,,and there fairly cheap to replace,,i own a repair shop,,and this is some of the kind of work we do,the intake will be the most expensive part of this job to do,,good luck with it,,i hope this info helps.

Not sure about the Air Bag.
On the manifold, it is located on top of the engine and you will see where the Air Hose goes to a little intake (Plenum) on top of the manifold. Is the manifold Plastic??????? IF, it a black plastic then look at where the water hose connect to the manifold (Where the thermostat is located). Is this part of the manifold Plastic or Cast Iron??????? IF, it is plastic it may still be under recall by Ford, but, it may be past the date too. But, it not hurt to ask a local Dealer/Repair Shop. Other than that, all I can offer. I would say the Air Bag light is a coincidence and nothing to do with the overheating.

usually 3 1/2 hours labor at what ever the shop charges and depending upon where you get the intake (the Ford redesign with metal in place where the plastic cracks is close to $400) and figure another $40 for other stuff (thermostat and gaskets, coolant)

and no the air bag is another totally seperate thing.. usually it's the wiring under the steering wheel but would need the code to diagnose

at www.1aauto.com on a 1996 ford tunderbird with the 4.6l 280ci v8 the intake manifold costs $269.95 + $20.00 shipping ( takes1-2 days). and $22.00 from autozone for the gasket. and then what your local mechanic or dealer charges for labor. airbag light is another issue.
