No, you're not insensitive...... Don't be silly.....Not insensitive to those people who lost their lives in the most horrific ways, not insensitive to those families who have to live with the pain and the nightmares and the longing and aching to have their sons, daughters, mothers, fathers back, not insensitive to the people who survived who wake up in cold sweats screaming in the middle of the night because they see the faces of those dying in front of them in their dreams every night. You're not insensitive at all...............Yes there are horrible things that happen every second and every minute of every day, but one thing we are tied together as human beings with is the ability to feel sympathy and share compassion together. What is really sad is the fact that all this horrible tragedy is 'just another everyday occurance' and we are becoming numb to it, when we should really open our eyes and think what it would be like if we were in their shoes....

As a person who was there, it is an important anniversary. We are removed enough from it now that the pain is not so raw.

That being said, Personally, I cannot abide news or other public information being shoved down my throat. I rebel by limiting my exposure to these things.

I never watched the Simpson Trial or read about the Ramsays. It takes some doing but, just because the media moguls think that something is important or risque, we are treated to a parade of stories and diatribe.

In the early days of Saturday Night Live, Chevy Chase did a bid on weekend update that was Generalissimo Francisco Franco, still dead.

Even when there is no new information, we are treated to a rehash.

Clearly, when you are dealing with a person who has suffered a loss, you will be more sensitive to their pain than to the National Pain.

I don't think you're being insensitive, I feel that way sometimes just because it kills me to see the images played over and over again. It is such a depressing thing that I don't think anyone could ever forget therefore there is no need to be reminded of it. Unfortunately, it is something that effected not only our country but it shook the world entirely. Don't worry about thinking if you're insensitive or not, that's the great thing about being your own person, you have your own thoughts and opinions. What you can do in order to help make this country a better place is teach by example, make peace with the people you thought you would never talk to again, there is no room for hate in this short life, so make something good out of it!

There are basically two aspect to this incident. Firstly it is human tragedy, and secondly this incident is has political significance. It is highly symbolic in many respects. If we consider this incident just as a human tragedy then the period of mourning is over long time ago. It has been five years now since the incident happened. the relatives of the one who died in the indecent will mourn for their loved one for long time but it is not normal for other people to bear grievance, or the element of awful shock this long.

The incident lives on media channels because it has strong religious, political, east & west connotations attached. It is not surprising that the both parties are actually trying to get as much out of this as they can. I cannot help thinking - is this the standard of our civilised thought? First the horrific act itself and then we do not find anything better for our minds to focus.

I don't think it is insensitive to FEEL that way - but it would be insensitive to SAY it to someone who is mourning a loss. Some people's lives were dramatically changed that day and even five years later, they are still hurting.
I'm not that interested in all the media coverage either but I know it is encouraging to some people so when I get bored I stop watching.

No, it doesn't make you insensitive. It was a horrific tragedy that hurt the entire country. But it's also been driven in and broken off, with all the documentary specials on a dozen channels, rehashing with movies, interviews and so-called 'new findings'. The media needs to let it rest. People are sick of having it in their face for the past five years.

You know it is normal to feel that way I guess, just the other night me and my husband was talking about this same thing how tiresome some people are of hearing and reliving this horrible nightmare that came to us. But like I told him there is a learning tool here but that is only if most Americans would be really interested in learning. We believe it or not got caught and we made a mistake, what the United States and its people need to do is learn from that mistake so this kind of tragic incident doesn't repeat itself. And No you are not insensitive, I thought my husband was too but I guess I have to see the logic in it somewhere huh?

A little insensitive, but when George W. just keeps using 9/11 to boost his ratings, the entire sad episode gets lost. Quite frankly, it's sickening.

well, at least they are not going on and on like they did over the hurricane victims from New Orleans. I got sick of that one real fast and especially since they only seem to focus on New Orleans, like that was the only place washed away. There's nothing left in Waveland and other towns along the Mississippi coast but all you hear is how New Orleans has suffered and I sure didn't appreciate the comment the mayor said about the hole in New York.
