Why do guys with girlfriends start emotional/physical relationships with others ?

Then say they can't leave their girlfriend for fear of change!! It seems really odd to me that people would stay with someone when they mess around on them. I guess I would rather be alone and happy then with someone and unhappy.

It could also mean that you don't give up on the old horse until you have a new one in the stable. Some people are always looking for something better. They will never be committed.
They also feel that if they are currently with someone, then they don't look so needy and will have a better chance of finding someone. If they cheated on their old or current girl friend, they will cheat on you. The reason they have not left the old girl friend is that she doesn't know, or she puts up with it.

I had a conversation with my bf about this last night. He's always flirting with every woman he meets. From my point of view, his flirting shows nothing but a lack of respect towards me and our relationship, so I confronted him and told him I was fed up. Surprisingly, his answer was the following: "I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I'm not sure if I want the rest of my life to start today. I know I love you, but I'm coming to terms with the fact that I have to drop the flirting and stop exposing our relationship".
I'm not sure if he's going to stop or not, I'm not even sure if he really wants to try. I'll just be there for him, I can wait him for a year, no more. He can have sex, go out and party for a whole year, but when that's over (and by that time he's gonna be 29) our life together will re-start. (he didn't take that offer either, he says he's afraid of losing me). In my country we have and expression to explain what he wants: "the pigs, the piglets and the sausage machine".

True,i feel the same way you do.Some do it because they want a back up just in case you split on them,some have to have all they can get(women).
