chamomile lotion, or oatmeal baths. And if it gets really bad go see the doctor, he'll give you something more powerful.

I've been itching for 30 years (eczema), and I agree with most of the answers here. Cool water or cold compresses work well - until the skin warms up again. Benadryl (or generic Diphenhydramine - MUCH cheaper!) capsules or tablets by mouth work better than the creams applied to the skin, but try both. Perhaps the creams will work better for you.
Aspirin or ibuprofen will help reduce the inflammation, but don't take too much! Just the standard dose, every 4 - 6 hours.
Have you looked at cortisone creams? If the label says it works for poison ivy, it may well help. But if you are using it on a very large area, it will cost a fortune, and you may absorb more than is good for you. Ask a pharmacist.
And that's the best answer: Ask a pharmacist or doctor.

Depending on how bad it is you could try cold compresses. My fiance ran through a patch of poison ivy and it did relieve the itching. But if it persists get to a doctor. He let it go and ended up in the hospital. It got so infected he almost lost his foot. Be Careful. If its really bad GO to a doctor or emergency room.

Baking soda will help dry out the blisters if applied in a paste, but really the only thing that is going to make you feel better is a prescription of Prednizone (shot or capsule). If your case is bad enough you might be able to get it. Just try not to scratch! I know that's hard, but scratching leads to infection and scarring. Try the baking soda paste and then see an MD or PA or NP.

Piriton?
Just try any type of antihistamine you can get your hands on. Sorry I can't help further, I've never had to deal with this.
