I think it's not fair for transgendered people!

We face similar challenges and forms of discrimination. Many of us identify sexually outside of normal also. Whether before or after the transition we're sometimes part of the GLB communities. We are like-minded individuals also because of some of our perspectives. We're kindred spirits fighting some of the same battles. Really the GLBT community is at the least 4 seperate communities, but together we must stand to support each other and to fight for equal rights for all of us. I hope this answers your question.

Essentially: it's cause all the same people hate us. That's how I understand it. I haven't yet decided if it's a good thing or a bad thing to have that included, but for now it just is. It's PROBABLY a good thing, because there's PROBABLY more potential for both groups to get more done, but you are correct.

There IS a slight connection to sexual orientation: oftentimes, a post-op transsexual (getting very specific) will technically have their legal sex be different in one state than another. That is, the definition of "sex" is left up to the state. As such, a person taking a road trip with their partner may change from "straight" to "gay" just by crossing a state border. Some states would allow this person to stay married if they were married before the transition; I don't know what happens when that married couple leaves the state. But...yeah: there is some connection. Kind of.

Because the root of discrimination against gays, Lesbians, Bi-sexuals, intersex peole and transgender folks is all the same: Misogony. A limited definition:The hatred of the feminine -- meaning anyone who is not supposed to be feminine but acts or wants to be, and anyone who is supposed ot be feminine but trys to be 'more' than she is by acting more masculine. This includes the abandonment of whatever society percieves as the opposite sex to pursue someone of the percieved same sex. Someday, we will get rid of all these catagories and just be people. I hope, I pray. Anyway, I think we stick together because the root of our oppression is the same.

Good question. Gays and transgendered are as different to each other as to straights. Discrimination might be common, but i'm sure they have many different issues, concerns and interests. It would be right to have them in separate sections. I definitelty support the idea of separate sections for gay and transgender. I hope Yahoo admin takes notice.

Because most transgendered people are attracted to same sex they was born of. Often the gender nonconformity is prior to them forming an attraction on same gender, then some will want a sexual reassignment surgery, living as the opposite gender is not the same as being born the opposite gender.

But you make a point, if many of the children that go undiagnosed with a gender nonconformity continue, Then forming attractions on same gender because they are influenced to do so will continue to occur as often as it does.

Because transgendered people associate in many of the same circles as gays, lesbians and bisexuals. It's not universal, but it's common.

Transgendered people are placed in a catagory together because many are either gay/lesbian or bisexual. we all face many of the same issues, and i believe it's good that we all have our community together. i am a drag king, and do dress in a male appearance much of the time, and i am thankful to all be in one group together.

i think it's because many trans people start out identifying as gays.. but i'm not 100% sure.

however, it is not true that transgendered people are only attracted to the opposite gender (their own original gender, not the one they're becoming) - i know many trans people who identify as gay - for example, a man who wants to be or has had an operation to become a woman who loves women.

Until they actually have the operation(as in female to male) their interest in sex with another female(or male as in the case of male to female transsexuals) would still be considered a homosexual attraction simply because of their genitalia.
Second, they face a majority of the same challenges, discriminations and prejudice(s) that the LGB community face.
