actually jewish people are a certain type of white races, you obviously don't know many jewish people, a lot of them have big noses that they have fixed in high school and if you live around them many people can tell they are jewish just by looking at them or there last name, so they ARE white! and so your saying anybody who has german, scottish, dutch, english, spanish, italian, greek, danish, swiss, finnish, french descent can't be proud of being white? what right do you have to say that, what because your black? you haven't been a slave and don't know any so be quiet, we're all supposed to be equal right, so if you can be proud to be black then i'm sure as hell am proud to be white and wouldn't want to be anything else!

It is an interesting question. But I do not quite understand it. If you are saying that you are proud of being black it is fine. Anybody can be pride of being white, black, red or yellow. I do not know who is complaining about this. You can be proud of being woman, man, gay, Irish, Iranian or whatever you want. If you refer to the fact that that proud has to take the form of Black History Month, or any other public manifestations, my opinion is that that going public with that is a type of sectarism. It is similar to what gays do, or Jewish. They want to differentiate from the others. That is sectarism. I am not racist. I accept other races and religions and sexual inclinations but I do not like when people try to differentiate and be proud of being different. I think that is real racism or , at least. sectarism. It is like we had a White or yellow history month or heterosexual associations. I do not know if I am answering your questions. By the way, I really admire the history of black people in America: Luther King, Malcolm X, and so on. It is really something to be proud of but there is also great white, Indian, yellow, Jewish, etc. people who do and did great things for humanity. I hope this answer helps.

I totally agree with you. Me and my best friend (who's black) joke about this sometimes..that February is black history month and the rest of the year is white history months...it's a joke..there really is no harm meant there! I just think that we all have something to be proud of, whether we are white ; black ; or anything else. I am Irish so thank you for your comment. I agree that slavery was savage and cruel by the white ancestors, however..it's been a long time since then and some people need to let that hate go. Sadly, there is racism everywhere you look, whether it is black against white, or creed against creed. We do not live in a perfect world, but if we could all just see eachother as the same...we would get closer to being ok!
I hope this somewhat answered your question even though you really just wanted some examples of hardships we endured. I am proud to be American and I'm white, but I was born that way. So, like you, I'm proud of who I am. It would make no difference to me if I wasn't white, I would still be proud of who I am! By the way, I hate CMT...lol

I'm African-American and feel that your questions are baseless. Check the history of the Holocaust. Hitler not only attacked people because of their religious beliefs but also because of their political affiliations (i.e. socialists, communists). The people in Hitler's ideal world would have consisted of women, men and children with blonde hair and blue eyes. Considering these FACTS, do you still think that whites have no basis for "white pride"?
I also personally believe that black history month should be eliminated. African-Americans made history throughout the year, just not in February. As long as there is a distinction, you continue to label and separate yourself from history and promote racism.
I know what my ancestors had to go through so I could be where I am at today and I am thankful for that. But "whites" have an ancestry too and hurdles just as every other member of the HUMAN race.

Never heard of WET. I have heard of BET...are they connected. And as for CMT, if you mean Country Music Television I agree we don't need it. But then I am not wild about C&W any more than I am rap or hip/hop....heck, I change the channel when either one comes on the station. You ask why there should be a white history month since it is history....is there a white history month? You see I have been in Iraq and a little to busy trying to stay alive and those off my buddies.....black, white, brown, blue and green to notice. Should there be a white history month or did you simply fail to proof read your question?
As for your question in general I am half (or so) Irish so lucky me. But I don't go wandering around
telling ever one how hard my ancestors from 150 years ago had it here and in "the old country". The other half is french and we were forced out due to religious persecution. We (including me) have had some one serve in the military or as gun smiths for the colonies since we landed here indentured in 1607. There are some 2 dozen ancestors on listed on the Union monuments when they died in the Civil war.
I guess you right, the black man (and women) did itall. You built all the road, he buildings, invented hundreds of medicines, single handedly won the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Spanish American War, WWi, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam....darn near everything. All the white people, Asians, Native Americans must have just sat back and done nothing...is that it?
Yes, it is about race...too bad we just can't call ourselves the American Race. And yes slavery sucked and was wrong. But My family didn't and I certainly don't own any slaves. The Emancipation Proclomation was signed over 150 years ago and in my opinion the facists who call themselves white power types or supremacist are ill-informed and can stay out of my way.
And on the reverse side of the coin I don't need to constantly be bombarded by black history, latino history, European history, etc.
And I would wager that I have over come some hard ships in Iraq and during my earlier years as a US Army officer than you have.
And if having to "suffer" through the hardships of CMT and white history month (if there is one) is all you have to deal with consider yourself luck. I looked at your YA 360 and it seemed that your biggest complaint was not having anything to complain about. That just breaks my heart...I suppose that is another hardship you'll have to suffer through.

Honey, it is a sad fact but this world is full of racists! Most of them are NOT white! Take a trip over the ocean and you will see this first hand in many countries. this is fact. Not just in America.
I have noticed that if a person of color is offended, they immediately pull the race card out to justify their indignation. Black, Mexican, Muslim, and the list goes on. I have friends of all colors, and religions.. My mother is from North Africa. That makes me more African American than the majority of people who make that claim. Forgive the rude, stupid people who insulted you. Remember, learning begins at home. Parents are usually responsible for the way their children preceive the world. American is full of lots of people who regardless of race have over come hardships. 200 years ago things were different. Why keep the past alive when it was so horrible? If any people have suffered atrocities, look no farther than the American indians. They have and still do suffer. I bet you do not live on a reservation. I bet you can get a job near your home. I bet you never had your home stolen from you. I bet you can earn a fair wage. I am spanish and french. I do not consider myself white even though I MUST choose that race on most applications. It is time to put race issues, such as who suffered the most, to rest. I do however have pride as should you, just because you are you and no other.

Because black people never shut up about it, that's why. If a white man preaches love for race and culture, he's a racist. If he's black, he's a hero like Malcom X. As a human being I respect your right to speak your mind, no matter how screwd up I think you are. The real question is, when you die you have to explain your actions to a higher power, not me or anyone else. I'm irish by the way. I live my life trying to not judge people, I do, and that's wrong, but I can admit it. I don't think you can. Good luck in life.

The problem for me comes from the double standard. African Americans demand BOTH equality under the law AND racial based treatment (i.e. affirmative action, etc). To be blunt, you can't have it both ways. There shouldn't be white history month, but there shouldn't be black history month either. There should just be American history. Blacks and whites were both involved in American history. I've never owned a slave, and I'm guessing you've never actually been a slave. "My people" have never had to overcome anything to the degree of slavery, but that shouldn't in any way deny me the right to be proud of who I am. To me, it comes down to what you want. Do you want a 'colorblind' society where people are judged not by the color of their skin but on the content of their character; or do you want a seperate 'black community' defined by racial heritage? It's really about time to make that decision and move forward with it. As long as African Americans define themselves by the color of their skin, so will everyone else. And everyone else will demand the same racial treatment for themselves (W.E.T.), furthering the racial divisions that so many have fought so long to remove.

So what you are saying is that if you are a white person that is not Irish or Jewish that they should be ASHAMED of being white? I have not been a slave-owner, nor have you been a slave. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. I believe that ALL colors are a part of this country's history. It is a shame that you don't. If you think people will think you are a racist, you must realize that this question is filled with stereotypes and disrespect for no reason. How about HUMAN pride? People like you are what creates segregation between the races. I refuse to apologize for the color of MY skin - how strange that you think I should.

hmmm...honestly i've never heard of this scenerio. but in response to your question...why does it have to be about white people and black people over coming things. some black people have had it better than white people...and vice versa. everyone has their life story. i'm tired of everyone seeing this world in "black and white". it's getting old. instead of both sides complaining (no offense...you just raised a point) why don't we work in unity to support each other. just because the pigment of the skin was involved in history...doesn't mean it needs to carry on.
this may not seem like a serious answer to you, and i'm not meaning to call you racist by any means. just wanted to raise the point of what you are bringing up. so aren't you equally as guilty as these "white people"? either way people are going to complain till people get over these issues. blacks, white, native americans, latinos, jamacians, bosnians, italians...everyone has their own vendeta...and all i have to say is LET IT GO. ever race is prideful. so why can't we just leave it at that?
