The Royal family will never be lost. Solong as they breed children their lineage will go on and on. As for the Primminister, heck I heard Tony Blair resigned from his post. UK has different political system. So they do not have a President they have a Priminister.

There is absolutely no reason to get rid of the royal family and prime minister and get a president. The royal family gives stability to the government and the nation. Countries with presidents, elected every few years, are in a constant state of turmoil. The system has nothing to recommend it.

I'm Canadian, & I have nothing against the Royals, but I think we should become a Republic, As for the UK, you would have to be totally daft to get rid of the Royals, especially where the are now paying taxes. It is one of the greatest tourist attractions you have. Trouble at the Exchequer, marry off a Royal.

The PM - who ever that will be going forward- is our equivilent to the president. Only for some reason England sniffs the @ss of the Colonials(historical term). Its stupid really!!

I have nothing against the Royal Family as people. What I disgaree with is the hereditary principle; the notion that somebody attains office by birth and not by election. In a 21st century democratic country this cannot be acceptable.
While we are on the subject of Britain's anachronistic consitutional arrangements, we desperately need a written constitution.

We shouldn't the royal family bring a lot of money into this country, sometimes it seems like foreign people appreciate them more than us British. Also having a royal family and prime minister ( could do with getting rid of him mind, not sure what he does!) makes us the country are why would we want to change.

Not in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, nor in the Commonwealth. I like my Canada with my current head of state. God Save the Queen.

Because in an egalitarian society the Monarchy represents discrimination, despotism and an hierarchy without merit and who only occupy the position they have because they were sufficiently murderous and brutal to enslave the rest of the population.

With presidents you have the problem of a president who yearns to be a king or queen anyway.
With royalty, duty and patriotism is drilled into them from birth and they know that their every move is scrutinised.
Until there is a system which ensures that a president is not a product of a power-hungry desire but instead a product of duty, then we could get somewhere.
