A mission statement should be summed up in one sentence (or two at most). A good way to begin is by saying "(the name of your company) exists to... (list what you plan to offer to your customers, your employees, and your community) by ... (what you do in order to offer that)"

Mission statements are usually 1-3 year plans .
It would go something like I am conscientious, reliable, creative ,a team player with integrity who will be writing articles on social justice issues by 2008 for blah magazine or blah newspaper or a tv news program.

Depends on what it's for. If it's for a company, reflect on what the goals, purpose and values of the company are. Of course the company would like to make money, but what is it providing to make people's lives better? How does it make a difference? What separates it out from any other company? Why does it exist?

Is this for you or a company? Either way, you need to realize what you are. What's important to you. Just jot it down, no wrong answers. Pretend you're the benevolent dictator of your world. What would that world be like?
Just write what's important to you, just bullet sentences. Then, decide from those statements what you (or the company) should excel at.
