I have Palmer for my starter; but my backup is Plummer. I'm thinking of switching him out for someone else. Who do you think is the better backup: Plummer, A. Smith, Grossman, Kitna, Collins, Losman, SImms or Frye?

Of that lot, I'd stick with Plummer. You drafted him ahead of those other guys for a reason; don't panic just because he had one lousy week.

If you really want to swap QBs, I'd take Kitna. All the QBs you listed are on bad offenses (except Plummer), but Kitna at least has a track record of past success from when he was a starter in Cincinnati. I'd also keep an eye on A.Smith, he had a great first week and he was a #1 overall draft pick (in the real NFL draft).

Grossman might be good too, if he can go more than two games without getting hurt, but the Bears are built around defense and running. The system probably limits his upside during any week when they aren't playing the Packers.

Plummer is always inconsistent, but he plays on a good team and the Broncos have a small window to win so he will start all year.

A. Smith/Grossman will be decent. But both play for conservative offenses and on teams not known for scoring, so they will have good year with minimal TDs and yards.

Kitna is good. If he starts all year he will have a decent year, but Detroit's line looks bad. And it is hard to pass when you are on your back.

Collins is underrated, but on that awful team I can bet we will see Young playing before the end of the season.

The question for Losman is: Why is this guy still starting?

Simms was awful in his game. And he is young so it will probably be an up and down year.

Frye is a great young talent. But he will be up and down all year.

All that being said, if it were me I would lean toward Kitna or Plummer.

Hang on to Plummer.

They say, "you can take Plummer out of Arizona, but you can't take the Arizona out of Plummer."

Plummer has a couple of these games every year where he completely reverts to his old ways. Shanahan has him well programmed, and he is a pearl at home.

He's still worth keeping for home game spot starts for your team. Palmer will handle most of your work, but Plummer will be a great start against the Oaklands of the world in Mile High Invesco.

The other guys you mentioned don't have perenniel 1,000 yards backs, or 2 solid WRs.

I would keep Plummer, but if you must drop him here is the order:
Kitna, Collins, Simms, Losman, Grossman, Frye.

Frye, Simms, Losman, Kitna & Grossman would all be desirable before Plummer.

I think you may be giving up on Plummer too quickly. However, I would look and see who each QB plays during Cincy's bye week and try to get the best matchup. Obviously you don't want Simms when he plays a tough defense.

Plummer is the best of the lot and Denver are a decent team. Why don't you hang on to him and see if his performance picks up. If not you can always consider someone else. It's only week 1.

Plummer is hot and cold... but he's going to probably be more hot than any of those other guys who could be VERY cold this year... I expect Jake to heat up a little if the past few years are any indication... I expect those other guys to be pretty frosty overall...
