Someone is going to suffer a whole hell of a lot of pain here.
No matter if you both love your dad or not that information could kill him.
To satisify your own minds-fine, get the test but is it really necessary to hurt someone else with the answer?
Your mom, maybe telling the truth and if she isn't, she may well have good reasons not to.
Having the truth and then sharing it is not alway wise.
Look into your hearts for that answer.

Boy, this is a toughy.
Is it necessary that he know at this point in time? If your sister wants to have the test, that's fine. She should know about her history for her own medical reasons. But this man HAS been her father. Unless it's absolutely vital, keep it to yourself. But I would have a very long talk with mother.

I don't see the need for a paternity test as it can only hurt people - not only your father, but your mother as well and their relationship to each other.
Her/your father is the man who has provided love and support her whole life. Biology has little to do with being a FATHER in the truest sense.

ur really opening a can of worms here. on one hand u have your sister who possibly has a burning desire to know the truth of her parentage.
on the other hand you have your entire family's happiness at stake, and the possible truth might hurt you all.
is it worth it to risk all this stability to satisfy your sister's curiosity? if you have been happy as a family these past 24 years, then you have to consider very carefully.
however i do agree that your sister has a right to know. but sometimes these rights come at a high price!
the last thing i have to say is that these people who are spreading all these rumours to you and your sister are really selfish gossips! you shouldn't really bother with them.. what is their intention in spreading such malice?

If you are not sure then do not say anything to your father. That would only hurt him. You could just get a sample of his DNA (hair) and do the paternity test that way. Someone could just be trying to cause problems in your family. Good luck and God bless.

let the cat out the bag while it is still alive, u don't want your dad further down the track to open a stench of a bag by accident.
yes, he maybe hurt initially, but if he is able to take it up the chin, he will realise gene or no gene, the 24 yrs together is what make him the father to your sis.

I think it sounds like you need to know.
So do it.
But I think it may destroy your father, don't tell him.
I also think that if 2 different people in your family know, that maybe more know and maybe somewhere down the line your father may have heard the rumors also.
But if he doesn't, DON'T tell him.
He is your true father.

NO !! why hurt him- and i bet he already knows and doesn't care to him she is his daughter after all hes the only dad she has ever had.
It takes more than blood to be a dad that old saying is so true - any one can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad

After 24 years? She IS his daughter! No matter who was the sperm donor. Our son is adopted, age 15 and he IS our son. No matter who his "birth mother" and father is.
