"Acute" just means "recent" or "short term". Unfortunately, there isn't enough information here to give an acurate diagnosis.

Acute means has sudden onset. The timing is very hard to define and depend on what problem are you going to descibe it on.
Acute and chronic have different severity. Let's say a patient present with acute headache, you'll be worried because he could have some illness which is severe. But if patient complain of chronic headache, then you'll be less worried because the cause is unlikely fatal.
If u can describe more on the complain of your friend, like what goes to the back (is it the pain or the fever)? By telling the symptoms, some differential diagnosis could be made.

Comparison? Acute is a sharp, stabbing pain, like a knife cutting you. Chronic, on the other hand is determined by time rather than condition. I have chronic back pain, meaning it never really goes away. It is constant, though it can vary from sharp to dull, from weak to strong. All chronic means is that it's constant. Acute chronic pain would be something that is constantly strong and very sharp, and never goes away. I hope that helps. I hope even more that you don't have either one. :-)

acute means that the problem you are having is with a 7-10 day time frame. While chronic suggests that the problem is recurring or fairly constant over a longer period of time The fever and the sudden loss of feeling and falling spells suggests some other disease process is going on within the body.

From what I understand in your question: acute is some illness or condition that comes on fast and goes away in a few days. Much like a common cold. Chronic on the other hand is a condition that will stick around. Much like arthritis for example. You have it, its there its milder sometimes and more severe at other times. So if your friend has been diagnosed with something "acute" he/she will be fine in a few days!!

acute means short and severe or sudden depending on the organ affected. Chronic means lingering, lasting but do not mention about the severity of the condition

That's nowhere near enough information to identify what you are tacking about, but Acute conditions are immediate and sudden, for example the medical term for Fainting is "Acute Loss of Consciousness (ALOC)".
Chronic conditions are persistent and mostly uncurable, such as Diabetes.

Acute just means that something is severe. Chronic means that the illness is continuous and recurrent and usually cannot be cured.
