I got to work this morning and one of the guys I work withs little girl is in the hospital. He said she woke her mom up this morning and she said her chest was hurting. She went to the bathroom and when her mom went to check on her she was passed out on the floor. They can't get her to wake up.She's in the hospital and they are running tests. She's only 8 years old.I thought maybe somebody out there might have experienced something like this and might have an idea of what could be wrong?

Wow... I am thinking an asthma attack as are alot of people here.. But usually with an asthma attack, she would have woken back up fairly quickly. The fact that she wasn't responding is concerning.

It could be any number of things... An allergic reaction to something in the home, lung problem , heart trouble.

Keep us posted.. I think you can add details to the question at a later time.
Her family is in my thoughts. Hope it is nothing serious.

This could be one of many different conditions. The child could have a problem with her heart that hasn't presented until now. With chest pain and the passing out, it sounds like the child's heart wasn't pumping right and oxygen was then decreased in the blood causing her to pass out and not regain consciousness. Doctors could find that the child has a hole in her heart, congenital heart failure, hemorrhaging around the heart that caused pressure to build on the wall of the heart thereby decreasing blood flow. There is no way to guess a proper diagnosis until after tests are run and the doctors know what they are looking at and can treat her. My best wishes to this child, I'll pray for her.

About one in every 100 children has a heart problem (also called a heart defect). This means that such problems are quite common. Heart defects can usually be treated with medicine, procedures or surgery. Common symptoms include a blue colour of the skin and lips, shortness of breath and difficulty feeding. However many children have no symptoms and parents do not even know their child has a heart defect.
Parents will soon know, as you said doctors are already doing the tests.

I think I will agree with most here that there is really no way of knowing what is going on. It could be heart or allergies...but in reality it could be the side effect of so many different things including panic, blood sugar to things worse than this. Very stressful time for the family, send lots of prayers and I hope everything ends up being simple.

If her chest was hurting before she passed out, I'd like to think it was only something like asthma or an allergic reaction as opposed to a heart condition. If her lungs closed like with an asthma attack or a severe allergic reaction, then she wouldn't be able to get air and would pass out. Hopefully, it's nothing too serious, and my thoughts are with her and her family.

It could be a multitude of things. There's not enough information to even take a guess.

I hope whatever it is isn't serious, and that the little girl gets well quickly.

Worst case: Sounds like a heart attack --but could be any number of things they won't know until the x-rays or CT come back.

IANAD, but whatever it was, it doesn't sound too great.
Hopefully it's something simpler than that.
