Nice little vans, especially with the V-6s. The transaxles had a problem though. It didn't matter whether it was the 3 spd or 4 spd automatic, they all had fairly short lives. (100,000 miles was a good one) A new one costs $2200+ installed (been there- done that) and rebuilding is NOT recommended. (costs almost as much and won't hold together very long.) If someone says they have a trans that needs to be "adjusted" because it slips a little, that is the warning sign that the van will be getting towed very soon.

A little glitch that doesn't seem to cause any serious problems is the hydraulic lifters in the 3.0-3.3 liter V-6s. They are very tiny and tend to go bad often. The sound of clicking from the valve covers will be easy to hear. The good news is they are easy to replace and cost about $12 each. (1 of them in the engine for each valve.) The bad news is the new ones will go bad very quickly as well. I put more than 50, 000 miles on a 3.0 with bad lifters with no problems. Sounded like it had solid lifters, but ran fine.
