Yeah, what's going on is the French are again cowering in the face of a threat. The only time they say anything that sounds tough is when they are making demands of the United States or the UN.

I am French and I used to live in USA, Canada, Germany...
Each member of my family is born in a different country. It gives you quite a good overview.
Here are some questions that could be your answer
1/ Did you know French army was fighting with US during 1st Irak war in 1990?
2/ Did you know Paris subway was bombed by Al Qaeda in 1995? Did USA send troops to help - no- by the way the problem was quickly solved in 3 months
3/ Did you know that French army is with US Army in Afghanistan Ops Field?
4/ Did you know that a majority of European (maybe except UK and Poland), don't believe Saddam Hussein was involved in 911 ? Did you know that there are no proof of WMD in Irak?
Did you know that middle east is upside down now that Saddam Hussein has been captured (more US deaths after Irakis were living in democracy than when Saddam was in power)?
5/ Did you know that Ben Laden is supposed to be in Afganistan or Pakistan? Did you know that Afganistan is far from Irak?
6/ Did you know that Osama Ben Laden is not even suspected by the FBI about the 9/11?

French are very gratefull to WWII US veterans, but fed up to be accused - we are supposed to be on the same side against terrorism - stop accusing without knowing some facts - stop accusing the one that are your allies or they will stop thrusting you

I believe everyone should be 'reluctant to fight' as you put it. Perhaps the French could see through the hype and fanaticism that linked invading Iraq with responding to 9/11 when there was never any connection. But it appears that if you repeat a lie often enough the uneducated will swallow anything.

May be they are wise enough.May because their their had never been Cow Boy culture.May be they are much more civilized and cultured.May be their record of human right had been better than that of the USA.They are orignator of art, poetry drama civil liberties.As for Britain Tony Bair has brought shame disgrace to aotherwise acivilised society and country.
If you cannot analyse or simply refuse to give a thought as to why you attack a country without avalid reason,and why to kill innocent people.Do you expect bunch of flowers in retun of chopped heads and charred bodies?They don't even count them how many they kill every day. Why should France be party to such inhuman acts of terrorism with US and Israel?

The French understand the culture in the Middle East and in the Muslim countries. They don’t need to freak out to fight terrorism. They’re fighting it intelligently. They don’t have to lie on their people to enter a war. They understand the exact meaning of “crusade” and they know when to use-it and when not. They don’t have to invade Iraq to fight Bin-Laden who is hiding in Afghanistan. Since 2001, USA are making the wrong choices and that is why they did not win over terrorism and still afraid of it.

The French have generally been reluctant to fight anything. They prefer the quiet life where everything goes by and no on really knows your their. But during the quiet life they like hurling abuse at those taking a stand against things like terrorism. Look at the riots in France not that long agao rather than deal with them they simply ignored it, the situation got worse so they caved in. They want to see themselves as a great country but with no risks attached.

I think Le-coup got it right. France is a Democratic, independent country, not another US state!! The french and German never stopped fighting terrorism and preventing attacks on their own soil, rather than sending their troops thousands of miles away to kill Innocent people, steal their oil in the name of fighting terror!

Sorry, I know logic is outlawed on Y! Answers, but maybe it's because they realize that the more they stand next to W. while he screams about "Islamofascists", the more likely they are to get bombed! Would you stand next to the guy holding up his 9 iron on the golf course in a lightning storm? I didn't think so. Never understood why the French are always labeled "whimps" because they have a survival instinct!

Many states despite denials, actually support terrorism. Look carefully at were these states get there arms from. France is one of the biggest arms exporters in the world. Money doesn't talk, It swears.

Penn was called a racist when he warned of problems in the future with immigration. Don't suppose those sitting in Paris believed it could touch them!
I don't think terrorism is against the west, fundamentally it's against the wealthy Saudis who are involved hugely financially in the west. By hiitting us they hit the saudis.
