A toss up between Metallica at Download this year and Muse at the Reading festival at the end of August.

Metallica have always been a top notch live band, but their headlining set at Download was faultless - They played the entire 'Master Of Puppets' album. It doesn't get much better than that.
Muse were blinding at Reading this year - can't fault it as a rock show - superb visuals, brilliant musicianship and it helps that their songs are great too.

Bruce Springsteen, September 1985 - next-to-last night of the Born In The USA tour - Bruce, me & mine, and 78,00 other people rocked out for 4 hours and 45 minutes (I timed it) - not bad for a guy who had turned 36 the day before.
Close second - U2, March 1985 - The Unforgettable Fire tour - we were 2nd row behind the stage, I was appr. 30ft. from Adam Clayton's left shoulder - this was before U2 became such a huge phenomenon, and the connection between the band and the audience was incredible - the singalong for "40" lasted well into the parking lot.
Close third - Queen - February 1976 - A Night At The Opera tour - Freddie, Freddie, Freddie - but even without him they would've put on a great show.

Sigur Ros put on a beautiful, etereal show. The music lends itself to an incredible light show as it is, but I was just awestruck once I actually got the opportunity to see them.

I saw Nine Inch Nails with Bauhaus. I'd been a NIN fan for years, but never saw them live until this summer. With all of the anticipation, the great seats (meaning not getting pushed around in a sweaty pit) incredible sound and commanding stage presence, the decade plus wait was worth the hype. They have an energy that's unparallelled in my opinion.

Other great acts I've seen over the years are Billy Idol, They Might Be Giants, Depeche Mode and Coldplay.

Hmmm... i'm attempting to think of of a stay overall performance from back interior the day wherein my severe judgement wasn't clouded by ability of a haze of Acapulco Gold or a tab of Mickey Mouse. Uhhhh.... *nevertheless questioning* ok, i won't be in a position to think of of any. So enable's merely circulate with a Johnny wintry climate - John Lee Hooker gig in Denver. i don't bear in ideas what year it became, yet i became in college on the time so it had to be it gradual interior the early 80's. in spite of the undeniable fact that it became incredible, 2 of my heroes jammin' on the comparable point mutually.

It was Jeff Buckley and Band, on their first tour of Australia, September 1995, at the Metro in Sydney. Goodness gracious me - unprecedented.

Coming in second - Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart. Same venue, also in the 1990's. Incredibly exciting and largely improvised.

Best live band i've seen was System of a Down. The lead singer was so mesmerizing and so in tune with his purpose. He sang not to us, but to the heavens in a way that made him appear deranged and possessed. It was amazing. It was a spiritual experience.

Roger Waters, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Del McCoury, Stray Cats, and I could go on and on and on. I have been to so many live shows and have rarely been disappointed by any performance I have seen.
