Hello ,

New York to London at this time of year can be cheap, around $500 round trip depending on airline sales. Check out http://www.virginatlantic.com or http://www.ba.com http://www.cheaptickets.com or any of the USAirlines.

One bed apartments in London are expensive at around $1,500 per month! Hotels start from $100 per night dending on the star rating of the Hotel. Your best bet is a nice bed and breakfast place for around $50 per night or check out http://www.swallowhotels.com for a nice U.K hotel chain which has Hotels in London as well. You cannot work in the U.K without a pre-arranged work permit, Have a nice time!

London is a super expensive place to live - the whole of the UK is more expensive than the US - eg average price of gas here is $7 a gallon. The minimum wage in the UK is about $10 for an over 21 year old, but real estate, especially in London, is horrific. As an American, you'll find it even more expensive since the pound is so strong against the dollar

If you are even thinking about moving to another country, I suggest you research it really well.
