Actively choose not to. Work at it, it's hard to stop something that's fun. Don't look at any material that might make you want to masturbate and avoid being in the situation where you usually do. When you feel the urge, do something else, like call a friend up or something.

Anytime you are trying to stop something that you have a habit of doing you should,
1. Get full understanding as to why you should. When you know better you do better.
2. Put something productive in place of that which you are trying to stop. If you are going to take something away then it only makes sense that you have to replace it with something else.
3.Think ahead. You know when you like to engage in that activity so have a plan to be sure that you don't fall into the same thing you always do. If you know you do that late at night then be sure tat there is noting there to help you in that or tat your enviornment makes it impossible. Put up pictures of you family anything to take you out of that mind frame.

It's a natural thing, and shouldn't be stopped altogether. But yes, in case of addiction, you need self-control. Try getting busy in work, and these thoughts disappear with time, gradually. It's OK to masturbate once a week or so.

If your doing it constantly, like now and at breakfast, and at the shopping mall and at nightclubs, and when you're with your buddies, and you can't take your hand off it....then it could be a problem, then you may need counselling...but if it's in the privacy of your own home, and it's not effecting anyone else...then why stop? It's natural!

Stop eating eggs and meat, and try to focus your mind on other things you like. And you should burn energy by doing lots of exercise.

Keep your hands busy with other entertainment....read a book, ride a bike, work puzzles, go to the movies, canoeing, rock climbing, birdwatching....ANYTHING THAT KEEPS YOUR MIND AND HAND BUSY.
