I had my drive tray open and busted it. I removed the drive, it's trash. I bought a new internal cd-rw drive to install. I know where the power cable goes and the one that attaches to the hardrive.

There is a port on the back of the drive that says audio. Where does that go?

First, unplug the computer and remove the side case panel. . Then set the jumper on the back of the drive to the "Master" position if this is your only drive. If this is the second optical drive set the jumper to the "Slave" position making sure that the other drive is set to the "Master" position.Make sure that you are grounded. Install the drive with the screws. Attach the IDE ribbon wire. Attach the molex power plugs. Re-install the case side. Power up, and Win XP should see the new hardware and install the drivers for you.

You can just leave that open... That's for when you have a really nice sound card. You want to be sure that the Jumper settings on the drive are set to Cable Select or Slave though if this is a new drive.

nicely frequently it is actual trouble-free, in simple terms come out the CDR, pop interior the DVD R and that's approximately it the undertaking is that your computing device is incredibly previous there. i'm no longer even specific that your video card would desire to handle DVD playback (some lower back then did no longer) OR if the connector from the hot tension would be nicely matched with your motherboard hookup thinking it is 8 yrs previous

Thats not important, it connects to your sound card (or motherboard), it only lets you use the headphone socket on the front of the drive to hear music, which you can do with your speakers already or the headphone socket on your case (front or back).

If it came with a wire to connect, just look for a similar socket on your sound card (or your motherboard if you don't have a seperate sound card)

But again, its not important!
