I've told her that I recently visited the dentist to make sure I don't have any unpleasant odours, but she hasn't taken the hint!

i know things like this is very difficult to tell someone cuz u don't wanna be offensive. u can't just keep giving her mint all through ur friendship. ur hint was a very thoughful one eventhough, she couldn't notice what was the idea behind it. staying without telling her will be a mistake cuz u care about the way she is. she might meet some other person who is mean and they will make her feel so bad. teeling her to her face is so hard, what u gotta do it to tell her by mail or by phone. i think mail will be beta so u explain it detailly and be so nice. she will appreciate u for that, i wish u luck.

just call her to the side and say "girlfriend did u eat some onion this morning cause your breath is kinda up the radar, here have a breath mint". OK maybe your not gonna say it like that, but u get what I'm trying to say, if u can smell it, then maybe someone else can, and hearing it from you, would be much better than hearing it from them.

LMAO! Well sometimes it's hard for people like that to get the hint mainly because they are so use to the smell it's natural to them. Therefore it doesn't have an effect on them so all you can do is hold your breath when talking to her or offer her a mint all day.

Keep offering her gum all the time. This works 2 ways. As long as she accepts the gum will freshen her breath, if she refuses say "No, I really think you should have some" which is not subtle but not really offensive.
If she takes the hump with you, just say "I was just trying to help you out, fuggin DOGBREATH!"

If they are your friend, just be honest about it. Would you want your friend to keep silent? Take her to the side and say, listen, I have noticed an odor coming from your breath and it may be a sign that something is wrong. You may want to get that checked out. Sometimes you just have to be honest.

think of it the other way round, would you like your friend to tell you if your's smelled?
what if you'r single, went to flirt/talk (or whatever people do these days) w/ that someone you like and they jus grab thier nose and w/ a raised voice announce that your breath stinks?

not telling people this kinda stuff often ends up w/ them being really embarased someway or another

maybe you should say that you've got to tell her something and its hard for you to tell her because you dont want upset her. say you've a girl talking about her breath and you'd rather her know now then hear it from her. say shes been slagging your breath off too and you've gone to the dentist to get checked out.
be supportive and say you'll come with her.
apologise after and say you just dont want her to get hurt

It depends how much you really care for her. I mean if she doesn't get the hint, then you have to spelt it out to her. If she is your friend she wouldn't mind being told this. It's better coming from you then a stranger.

seldomly give that person a present, maybe a teddy bear and or something and stick an altoid or Winterfresh gum, if you may, and leave a note that says: You are my best friend, no matter what they think, but baby i have to tell you, your breath STINKS!

from what you said that think you have been modest enough which is good, but thank God you said that you are friends and so for future embarrassmments for him , i think its better you tell him bluntly than have another person tell him that way. he will be more receptive to you in terms of being offended and annoyed . hey look at the big picture always.
