Hello,
If you use a HCG urine test, you should be able to have the results as soon as 24 to 48 hours after intercourse.
I am not sure if the test you buy over the counter are that sensitive, but I do know the ones the doctors use in their surgeries work that way. Well the ones in Australia do, so I expect they would be a fairly commonly used type.
Having said that, if you are enquiring as to if you can take the test straight after having sex, the answer is yes, as soon as you can urinate, you can take the test. However, it will not show up/ register for the 24 to 48 hours I stated above.
When you do the test, it is best to use your first wee for the day, as that is when the reading is the strongest, so have a small sterile container near the loo.
Good luck and I hope everything works out well for you.
Cheers.
Helen :-)

There is one pregnancy test that you can take 5 days before your period should start. The reason is the hormone doesn't show up until you are a few days or weeks pregnant.

Pregnancy tests aren't valid until right around the time the period is due.

as early as you want to take one. that's not saying it will work. wait about a month and if you don't have a period then take a test, it will be more effective.
