my little girl just started school and towers over the other children,I'm not worried about the height as much as her weight...but dont worry-no crash diets and I'm very aware of keeping her self esteem high.she is 3ft9 and 50 pounds.

It looks as if she's at the high end of the range for a 5-year-old, but not off the scale.

My six year old granddaughter in May was 46" tall and weighed 60 lbs. This might help you with a rule of thumb.
My other granddaughter who has always been thin is now 9 and has chunked up. She is 95 lbs and 4' 6" tall. and is easily 10 lbs over weight.

Based on your daughters height she doesn't seem overweight to me. One thing about children they just keep getting taller so they grow through slightly chubby stages.

Her weight sounds about right but I'm no expert. There are BMI websites you can use to find her proper height and weight for her age. Also try taking her to a nutritionist at the local health department. They often screen children for free. Also a yearly doctor examine called a well child visit is needed. Most people can get these for free especially if you qualify for Medicaid.
